A Franz Linkhorst photo that I need to identify

My story is this: A decade ago, I bought a photo album at an estate sale of a former WWII Am military intelligence officer who was stationed in Berlin after the war. And now that I am retired, I am really looking through it and saw two photos (front and back) of a statue of what looks like an American WW II soldier as. The photos are in the gelatin silver and measure approximately 14.2cm x 22.8cm. On the stamped verso, it reads in four lines: Franz Linkhorst Photograph Berlin-Halensee Joachim-Friedrichstr.211 which is the same as the photos we have of his that we confiscated after the war as he was a National Socialist photographer and were put on our Library of Congress; so due to all of this, I do believe it is authentic. A librarian there sent me here, stating that someone may be able to help me.

I have looked and looked and have found nothing about this photo, nor who may have made this statue. I have been writing to several people in Germany and a librarian at the University of Frankfort thinks it is a smaller statue, and not a monument, which I agree with, and also that maybe Max Esser may have had something to do with it as he did make statues and military graves and Linkhorst did photograph his works. This is a real mystery to me as I cannot figure out why there would be a statue of an American soldier in Berlin during WW II; and again, who would have made it, as well as where was it as the background is totally dark, and is it still around today? An historical photographic researcher here in the States who has helped me in trying to find out what I have, agrees with me that it is an American soldier, which confounds both of us. I am attaching photos of the statue and the stamped verso to this note in hopes that anyone here may have seen either this photo or the statue itself at some point in time, and be able to tell me exactly what I may have or if not, point me in the right direction of someone who can (and I hope I am not violating a copyright law as I looked what could be posted, and to me I am ok).

Regards from across the pond!
