Weltluftmacht Deutschland

#1

Post by Helmut0815 » 16 Oct 2015, 22:39

Recently I stumbled over an article in the online issue of german newspaper "Welt".
"Weltluftmacht Deutschland" (World Air Power Germany) was a propaganda brochure (32 pages) published in cooperation with the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht (OKW) by Informationsdienst Luftfahrt (Aviation Information Sevice) in July 1940. The booklet is trilingual (german/french/english), proganda for both domestic and foreign readers. It contains stories and photographs about the rebuilding of the German Air Force in the 1930s, the Luftwaffe in action above the North Sea, Norway, Holland, France, Belgium and the German aviation industry and its capabilities.
The brochure was sold in the Reich for 20 Reichspfennig and the article also states that it was dropped in bundles over british cities along the English Channel coast by the end of July 1940. Doeas anyone here know when and where this exactly occured?

The overview of german aircraft types shows common german planes like the Bf 109, Bf 110, Ju 87, Ju 88 and He 111. However it shows the german prototypes Fw 187 and Messerschmitt Bf 162 "Jaguar" which never went to serial production and thus never saw combat action. The Heinkel He 113 fighter is pure fiction. In fact the picture shows the He 100.
