Trier

Ten days ago I was in Trier - lovely town - and took the opportunity to try to match up a couple of photos I'd seen over the years. The first photo (the copy comes from "Traces of Evil" website) of a gathering in Adolf-Hitler Platz took two days to match: if you're ever in Trier, stand outside the Hotel Romischer Kaiser and look across the road. The speaker must have been facing the Porta Nigra. The location of the second photo of the GIs dressing the dummy had - I found out later - already been traced on Warpicturesonline (where I had found the original photo years ago) but I include it anyway. The Hotel Porta Nigra has been demolished and is today replaced by a Hotel Mercure.

The Porta Nigra is to the observer's left, about one hundred yards.

Outside the former Hotel Porta Nigra. Since demolished.
