Prinz-Albrecht-Straße Nr. 8

Postby Helly Angel on 26 Jun 2004 08:10

Hard Question...

Someone know how was the distribution of the Building of Prinz-Albrecht-Straße number 8 (during the war)?

For example, Which offices were in the 1,2,3, etc floor?

The building was the Gestapo HQ?
or it was the HQ of the complete RSHA?

Someone have photos?

Thanks in advance,

Helly

Is my memory failing me? In Red Star's photo above, I have circled what is obviously the Gestapo HQ in question. However, I seem to recall from my visit last year that the Topography of Terror exhibition is allegedly on the site of the former HQ and part of the exhibition is in the surviving Gestapo cellars. The blue line indicates where I think I remember the exhibition to be (there is also a section of the Berlin Wall there). Now if the cellars are where the blue line is, how can they be the original Gestapo cellars?

I think it is a combination of the underground cellars exhibition that are more to the left of your blue line and an exhibition of the berlin wall that was over the whole of the prinz albrechtstrasse.

according to me the cellars where in this place. maybe there is somebody who could make a sort of overlay, just like in the thread of the fuhrerbunker.
