I think I've worked it out: Red Star's picture (above) is the site of the current Topography of Terror exhibition hall. The display running parallel to the remains of the Berlin wall was described (on both my 2010 and 2011 visits) as being in the original cellars but closer examination shows that only part of this display is in the original cellars. The section of the display at the corner of Wilhelmstrasse and Niederkirchnerstrasse is in the foundations of a previous(corner) building. I have indicated on the second photo in blue where I think the building stood, i.e. pretty much where Cor's photo indicates but from the other direction. The first photo has a blue arrow indicating where I believe the original Gestapo cellars to have been. Having said that, I am fully prepared to be advised differently.

I was there in 1988 the museum was there then as well but not in it's current design and presentation. It pretty much spanned much of the block to the corner at that time.

Further to this if you look at the map at this link viewtopic.php?f=44&t=126723. The buildings in red were all part of the SS HQ complex and Building 9 was where the cells were. That would then make the memorial correct.

I took this picture last September. It is a corner of the block on which the HQ stood, close to the current Exhibition hall but on the Wilhelmstrasse side, and I believe they are original bricks. I seem to remember there was a blue historical marker that said that this was the site of Heydrich's office but that the site had since been used for kids racing BMX bikes or something similar. You get some funny looks when you photograph a pile of stray bricks through a fence on Wilhelmstrasse.
