And the Honor Temples are no longer there - they were torn down in 1947 (the foundations are there, overgrown with brush and small trees). The adjacent Führer Building and Administration Building are both still standing.

Die Ehrentempel in München and, that's right, only the foundation remains today.

Can you say definitively whether the picture in my first post is the north or south temple?

Ruins of the Honor Temple in the South side of Briennerstraße. The two Honor Temples were built as burial places for the sixteen Nazis who were killed in the Beer Hall Putnch. SS guards, known as "the Eternal Watch," guarded the temples day and night.

Hello,

Just seen this thread. Here's a couple of views of Konigsplatz from one of my albums.

Hello everyone, sorry but I am a little confused as to where this place might have been.
I noticed the tall monument in the foreground in the picture posted by History Me
and the other picture (black&white) posted by Vance Pollock from that period.
Could it be the "mix" of photographs I have done?? - Picture I post here -
It seems it is not the same. I am a bit confused as to the exact placing of the buildings.
By the way, nice of you guys for sharing this piece of history. Interesting monuments...but bad for what they stood for.

Hi, Larrister,
picture 91.jpg may be not Koenigsplatz, but "Haus der (Deutschen) Kunst" at Prinzregentenstrasse 1.

Hello History Me,

Great job you've done on superimposing my photo over yours. :D
I guess that the two buildings are close together as the guy in the photo looks like he is out on a Sunday stroll.

Oh mon, did those Yankees like the neo-classical style of the Third Reich era in Munich.
For instance Haus der Kunst became a US Officers Club until the late 50ties.The Party building left of the E-tempel became Amerika Propaganda Haus. On Ludwig-Von der Tann Strasse is another new style building complex which was the US Consulate until a short time ago.
On Tegernseer Landstrasse another NSDAP build complex (Reichszeugmeisterei) was favored to become the Sacom Hq.for Southern Bavaria.

And you thought they were condemning anything nazi originated.

Blasphemy in motion???

I took these photos from the Muenchener Stadtmuseum displaying one of the granite blocks removed from the Koenigsplatz after the war. The display, one stair flight down from the doll exhibit - what a freaky floor that was, is housed in the main exhibit hall separate from the NS museum which is another building in the museum's courtyard. On Sundays, the main museum lets free entrance, by the way. I'm not sure about the NS exhibit as it's a separate museum and I only had time to visit the main one that Sunday.
