How NOT to wear a Blood Order

Postby jeffhan373 on 19 Aug 2011 19:32

First time I've ever seen a holder wear it like this! Wonder why someone didn't tell him to get it together...

What was Julius Streicher thinking? Great photo Jeff.

A lot of the big wigs seemed to go against regulations and do what they wanted on wearing decorations.

How about old Göring here, doesn't seem to be quite right either.

There might be a valid reason for wearing the decoration with the backside facing forward...some sort of symbolic meaning? Just a guess. Göring took a bullet at the Feldhernhalle and Streicher supposedly fired the first shot or shot in response to the policemen. Being in the think of the firing, maybe they felt entitled to wear it backwards, showing the Feldhernhalle. Any thought on this "theory"?....hard to believe they would be that indifferent or blind to "regulations".

I just meant the ribbon was doubled but not worn in the triangle shape on the pocket flap. Just not regulation according to the sheet posted above. I didn't even notice it was backwards.

In order to wear it facing backwards, the ribbon would have to go under the flap pocket. I would say it was a deliberate method of wearing it and not accidental. One would have to look really carefully at others to see if they also wore it this way (like Ulrich Graf, who also got wounded).

If I am not mistaken this is Graf from the same photograph.
Oh, and this is from the November 9, 1938 march through Munich in remembrance of the Putsch

Yes, I see it's him (Graf)...and he is wearing it the correct way too. Thanks for posting the photo...my "theory" is now debunked (lol) , as Graf took more bullets than anyone (apart from those killed). I guess the guys didn't know how to wear it properly...good catch Jeffhan and John Winner. Streicher and Göring both goofed.
