Hitler portrait photos
Hello,
I used the search function & looked on the internet for information about these pictures, but could find nothing. Please forgive me if this has already been covered.
A few years ago, I stumbled across some Hitler photos on a web site. It said that he was not happy with these pictures & smashed the glass masters of them. I downloaded one off the site and forgot all about it. I would love to see the rest of the photos from the set, and also hear the story behind them (who took the pictures etc). The photo I downloaded is below. I am loading it through tinypic.com, not from my computer. If it is wrong to show it when I don't own the original, just tell me. I resized it because the one I downloaded is rather big.
Thankyou for your time,
D

Has anyone ever seen this portrait? Who painted it?

Re: Hitler portrait photos
This is an image from a postcard of the time, unfortunately I have forgotten the name of the artist.
Re: Hitler portrait photos
does anybody know if there was a sort of "Official" portrait for offices and party homes? Did different organisations have different "official" versions?
Re: Hitler portrait photos
Yes there were several official portraits by Knirr, Fritz Erler, Franz Treibsch, Conrad Hommel, Walter Einbeck and others, there were also many other portraits of Hitler both alone or in company by other artists, one typical of this genre is 'Hitler at the front' by Emil Scheibe 1942-43.

Here is an old postcard image of AH that is quite nice in it's rendering. I Just happen to find this on an internet auction site.

Re: Hitler portrait photos
There are many photographic portraits of Hitler as well as paintings, and often the more 'informal' shots give a better view of Hitler the man rather than Hitler the 'Fuhrer'.
To modern eyes the stiffly posed 'official' portraits seem impersonal (as of course they were designed to be) I much prefer to see the rarer but more interesting shots such as this one.

Here is a portrait I found...I don't know where...but it's a very early image of AH in a formal (normal) setting. How strange to see Hitler as a normal(?) person?

Re: Hitler portrait photos
In my opinion, these two images are the most dramatic of the Hitler portraits. The full length image is a modern painting that I would love to get a good print of. Does anyone know where I could purchase one?
