I am looking for a nice picture of the Gauleiter of Hamburg, Karl Kaufmann. I only found one of him in "civil", but I'd like to see one of him in uniform.

Speaking of Kaufmann, does anybody know what awards and decorations he got? I couldn't find anything on him besides his well-known Wikipedia-biography. Any info would be deeply appreciated!

What is Kaufmann SS-Gruf. and Brif. promotion date?

Kaufmann skipped the rank of SS-Brigadeführer and went from SS-Oberführer right to SS-Gruppenführer. Being promoted to SS-Gruf. on January 27, 1934 and SS-Ogruf. on January 30, 1942.

Mark is correct, it is 30.01.42 for Karl Kaufmann promotion to SS-Obergruppenführer.

Regarding an earlier post concerning his awards, he did not see combat in World War I and therefore did not receive either grade of Iron Cross. The following is a listing of his known decorations and awards:

In 1926, a Party investigative commission found that Kaufmann had, among other things, claimed to have fought at the front during World War I and worn medals, including the Iron Cross First Class, to which he was not entitled.
