Taking into account that he is wearing the Iron Cross he must have served in WW 1. Thus he must have been before 1900.

My guess: Leopold Damian or Ludwig Uhland.

Hello and :welcome:

but: May not be the case!
1. this SA-Gruf. has contributes two latitude aluminum-sleeves-braids for "old fighters in the SA" = entry in the SA in 1927.
a) Leopold Damian entered the SA on 01.01.1930 (= one aluminum-sleeves-braid)
b) Ludwig Uhland entered the SA on 01.10.1930 (= one aluminum-sleeves-braid)

2. Here are their faces:

Uhland, Ludwig.jpg

This unknown SA-Leader was also Gruppenführer earlier than 1940 (only one shoulder loop right shoulder) - but until now I´m not able to identify him with security of 100% - and thats why not able to name him and say to me until now: Talking is silver - silence is gold!

See you soon and best,
Manfred

Yes Manfred, entry in the SA in 1927. But no Golden Party Badge.

Hello.

I think it is Richard Wagenbauer.

He won the EK1 and EK2, wound badge in black, War Honour Cross and the BMVD 4th class with swords in WW1.

He joined the SS on 20/10/1930.

As the SS was subordinate to the SA at this time, and he then transferred to the SA on 1/10/1932, would he then be entitled to wear the service rings?

Two 4mm rings would be correct for his date of joining.

(From May 1937, he was leader of Gruppe Ostmark).

Regards,
Chris.

Sorry Chris,
he can not be Richard Wagenbauer (see viewtopic.php?f=45&t=169288 and please note his left arm!).

Alu-Tressen 'Alte Kämpfer'.JPG

(Wagenbauer was from 12 January 1937 to August 1942 leader of the SA-Gruppe Bayerische Ostmark (1942 renamed SA-Gruppe Bayernwald; he was in August 1942 with effect from 31 Januar 1942 removed from this office and accordingly until his death leader of the SA-Gruppe Hochland.)

Best,
Manfred
