Schirach's grandfather a pallbearer at Abraham Lincoln's funeral
I've seen in only one book so far that Baldur von Schirach's maternal grandfather was a pallbearer at Lincoln's funeral. It was in "By the Neck Until Dead: The Gallows at Nuremberg" by Jeff Denhart, who in fact, is not a historian.
What is the validity of this claim? Are there any reliable sources that proves this to be true?

Knowing the name of this "maternal grandfather" would help you to find out surely as the Pallbearers at such an historic even were no doubt recorded.

There were 29 officers and nco's who accompanied Lincoln's casket during his journey and were rotated from time to time! To qualify, they had to be war wounded and declared no longer fit for duty!

According to historian Michael Kater's book ("Hitler Youth"), the man's name was Karl Friedrich von Schirach who lost a leg at the Battle of Bull Run. I do not think however that he was a pall bearer...see this list from the Library of Congress with original broad sheet which you can click on to enlarge full size:

Kater says he served as an Honor Guard.

I think Kater is wrong about the Honor Guard thing as well in the case of Schirach's grandfather. I think this man is confused with Putzi Hanfstaengl's maternal grandfather who was an Honor Guardist. His name was Irv Sedgwick, which is from whom Putzi got his name "Ernst Franz Sedgwick Hanfstaengl". See list below:

and also this list:

Schirach's grandfather did serve in the Union army but may not have taken part in Lincoln's funeral.

here is an interesting download on the Schirach family, including his great Uncle whose relatives included a delegate to the First American Continental Congress. This too has a false report of Ferdinand stating he was an "Honorary Guard" but geneology.com has no findings on this.

Claudia Koontz wrote a good thesis paper on Schirach (are you paying attention trespasser?):
