The assassin's name (Max's photo) was Yelena Mazanik.
Youtube clip about the above woman's role in the killing of Kube. Kube is shown starting at 2:40 and continues. She tells the story herself about the assassination. Later, the Soviet NKVD (for whom she worked during this operation) accused her of being Kube's whore during her later interrogation. She was accused of the "crime" of being 'tainted by Fascism". She tells this story too in this same documentary series, but I couldn't post it because the volume "Russia's War: The Cult of Personality" was not listed, however, if you view the following segment from below (Russia's War: Enemy within 6), you will see the post-war trial of Nazi SS collaborators and their public hangings. I believe there was a separate thread about these men but I can't remember under what subject.

I have several letters from Kube around the date of the assassination and in one he describes several Ukrainians living in his household. One in particular was described as large build, with a round face, possessing an 'East Prussian temperament.' She was about 20 years old and her name he gives as "Lydia." Her story was that her parents had been 'kidnapped by Bolsheviks.' Could this be Yelena using a false name to gain access to Kube's household I wonder? The description sounds remarkably like her.

Hello Max,
This is info about Kube house.

"Kube with his family lived in this house. According to documents and descriptions of his contemporaries, Yancheuski mansion was very beautiful. It was located on the southern slope of a hill, with house wall thickness up to 1 m. Yanchevskii himself lived in the northern part of the house, which occupies a third of the total area. Tenants and the servants came to their part of the mansion through a side entrance. Each of the floors are heated by a massive seven Dutch ovens. In 1913, the mansion had running water, toilets, bathrooms and electricity. Along the perimeter of the site were planted ornamental trees in the eastern part was the garden.
Kube was loved the thick walls and tall trees that cover the house from the Kirov street. By June of 1943 rebuilt a mansion, where the second and third floors have a double ceiling in the event of air attack. The ceiling height on the third floor was 3,6 m. On the second floor each of the three sons of Kube, had his own room. Kube family, as well as former owners, enjoyed the main (north) entrance, and the maid is still a side (east). From the side Engels street at the gate stood guard around the clock - one SD-officer.
22.09.43 in a mine explosion Wilhelm Kube was killed. It happened in the bedroom on the second floor in a corner room, one window that overlooked the Kirov street, and two - on the Engels street. Wilhelm Kube was torn left side of chest and lose left arm. His burned corpse pulled out of a burning bedroom. He slept beside his wife Anita, who was eight months pregnant, and she was shocked. Three young children who slept in other rooms, separated bathroom, were not injured.
The Kube body was placed in the morgue of the former 1st Hospital (currently 3rd).
Which one of the tenant lived in the mansion after the assassination of Kube - is unknown.
In 1976 the Yanchevski mansion, historical and architectural monument was blown up."

Thanks Andrey. I know the Kube couple slept in separate beds and that is why his wife survived. I also read somewhere that he sustained serious injuries to his lower body (legs) which resulted in death.

It has everything that you are interested in + photo, move to become a translator.

Semiliterate (primary education) and often with Elena bolevshaya incorrectly stated the house number (№ 48, not 27) and inaccurately wrote the street name (Theaterstrasse, "teatershtrasse" Theatre Street). On the plan of the 2nd floor (photo 15) contained in the data sheet (Bureau of Technical Inventory) on this structure shows the location of bedrooms in Cuba.

Kube never held the rank of SS-Brigadeführer. According to the 1.Oct.1934 SS-DAL, he went from SS-Oberführer (29.09.1933) to SS-Gruppenführer (27.01.1934).

These links appear to be absolutely fascinating, but unfortunately I can't seem to find a suitable translator into English online which makes them useless. Anyone able to translate the information in the links please?
