I realize this may be a dumb question, so please bear with me; I have not been able to find this out elsewhere. I need to know for a novel I'm working on whether mail service existed during the years 1942-44 between Germany and any of the Allied countries. What about between Germany and countries such as Spain/Portugal/Sweden/Switzerland? How about non-combatant nations, such as Cuba and much of Latin America, which had declared war on Germany after the US did? Thanks in advance.

According to Verordnung über den Nachrichtenverkehr (Regulation on the message traffic) from 2nd of April 1940:

[..]
§ 2
The direct and indirect communications with the enemy countries is prohibited.
[..]
§ 5
The message traffic with the non-enemy countries is generally permitted. However no messages are sent about military, economic or political situation[..]

In the Implementing Provision from 13th of May 1940 we have:

[..]
§ 1
Exceptions to the prohibition of direct and indirect communications with the enemy countries are allowed only in special cases.

Cuba and much of Latin America
They are mentioned in the document from 30th of May 1942 as "enemy countries".

Mail did travel, but only via Switzerland and Portugal.
