The first one is 'La Brune' at Avenue de la Motte-Picquet 42.

The second one I don't know, but it is a very distinctive building, that should be easy to find. It says 'Metropole' at the entrance, but it does not look like a hotel to me.

All the best

Another photo of a Paris Soldatenkino and some others of sightseeing in Paris, along with the author's comments.... From Laszlo Dormandi et Jacques Lorraine, Notre Temps: Histoire du Monde - 1930-1947.

Not a Soldatenheim, but as K.V.K said, definitely a building seen by a lot of Germans in Paris and its environs: L'Hôpital Beaujon in Clichy. I couldn't find anything about its 1940-44 history in a quick search, but it's still in use today: http://beaujon.ap-hop-paris.fr/

Many thanks (again) to Hessler64 for the gift of the picture! :D

And not only the soldier's explanation to his mother of the marsch from the Arc to the Place de la Concorde, but also of the abbreviation "O.U.". No wonder he mailed the postcard in an envelope!!!

I'm a new member and saw this post....
On one of my next walks I will try to do some 'Then and now' pictures of the Paris localities and post them here.

All the best

Andreas
Andreas, that would be très intéressant! I'd wondered what these buildings look like today.

Best,
~Vikki
Does anyone know if this Paris then and now has been posted?
thanks,
Chamaret

Hello Chamaret, and welcome to the Forum!

No, I don't believe Andreas had time to do the "Then and Now" pictures of Paris. A thread like that would certainly be welcome, though, if anyone else wants to take a crack at it.

Hello Cara,

According to the description posted by lebel on another topic, it appears that the book does. The link he posted also gives a review of that and other books on the subject: http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 5#p1358165

Postcards from Occupied Paris: From a Leutnant (soon after promoted to Hauptmann) of Feldkommandantur 757 to his wife in December 1940. The unit was under the Militärbefehlshaber Frankreich, and its Staff was assigned to the administrative district of Paris, and stationed in Neuilly.

Thanks to hucks216 for the excellent information on the Leutnant's unit, and further indepth links, on this group of postcards! (See http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 8#p1374658 )
