english translation for 'muck' besides 'dirt?
Muck is barnyard manure mixed with whatever bedding is in the stall. To muck out means to clean out what's on the floor of a barn.

Very nice pics.

And on the other hand- muck- doesn't seem to be a traiditonal 'german' name, but i could be wrong . is there any english translation for 'muck' besides 'dirt? :)
Below is an early photo of Hitler with his dog Wolf (the one in the drawing on the previous page). Geli's birds are in the cage in the background; I don't know what their names were! :)

The German word der Mucks means sound. Die Mucken are moods. There is a verb mucken with means to mutter; muck would be the familar command form of mucken. And the verb phrase sich nicht mucksen means not to move a muscle.

It is not really on the way to the Theehaus: it is on the terrace of the Berghof. On the picture (just under Blondi's nose), you see also the road: left is going to the Gutshof, right is going to Zum Türcken. I was there a few weeks ago and will be back next week. There is of course a lot of snow now (see http://webcams.chiemgau-net.de/obersalz ... llzoom.jpg)...

It's clichéed to say, but nazis were sentimental people. They yearned for old style simple country life, they favoured the small farmer over the junker, they preferred the small shopkeeper for the big warehouse owner, and they purportedly supported the small independent artisan instead of the big industry tycoon.

Practice of course fell very short of these hollow and clichéed ideals, but part of being sentimental is liking animals. The nazis in fact outlawed vivisection of any kind in 1936 (IIRC), as far as I know the only country in history to do so... something to whack the animal rights activists with

Everytime I see one of those bumperstickers with "Einstein Was A Vegetarian.....Think About It," I want to sneak up and paste one next to it that says "So Was Hitler......Think About That."

I have seen a photo of Hitler in WW1 trenches with a dog called Fuchsl.
I think it was a Jack russel wich was captured from the British who used it to keep the rats down.

I have found some interesting pics in my files.
The first pic shows Mussolini with a baby tiger/Lion. But the look on his face is quite "not so happy" with his new pet.
The other shows Adolf with his dog and also whom I believe to be Eva Braun (please correct me if I am mistaken) with two of her pets.
