Support for Hitler prior to 1934

I am looking for information on groups / prominent individuals who may have initially supported Hitler only to find themselves in the Nazi crosshairs later on. Many German conservatives (as well as conservatives across Europe) initially saw Hitler as being preferable to Communism. And we know that WW II resulted in the destruction of the Junkers as a class and political force. But what about Jews and Socialists. I have always assumed that Jews and Socialists were opposed to Hitler from the beginning, but were there any exceptions?

I strongly suggest you read the book The Nazi Seizure of Power, the Experience of a Single German Town 1930-1935, by William Sheridan Allen, New Viewpoints publisher, New York, 1973. It is about the town of Thalburg, Hannover, during that time. It gives a blow by blow description of the crushing of democracy and the creeping malignancy of national socialism across this town and Germany.

Thanks for the reminder. I have that book from college many years ago. Seems like a good time to reread it.

It is about the town of Thalburg, Hannover,
Thalburg was used as synonym for Northeim...
