Men's hair styles...
Re: Men's hair styles...
This is also my favorite haircut (which I had done by Antony Whitaker, when I was slimmer, in the eighties )... We used to call it the "eighties gay cut" ... These days, no hairdresser even knows what I'm talking about... There is a nice picture of Cerruti's perfume in June's 2011 Singapore Airlines magazine, with a modernized version of this cut: stylish but with no "humph"...

The 1940s "German" haircut is the new fasion again(But I guess most people are not aware of that fact...?)

The Resistance got hold of him, right???
While I'm a reenactor and am around World War II men's hairstyles often, and "see" them in the period sense, I personally don't understand why men would keep their hair like that for their everyday lives. Men's hair is lovely, sexy, often more attractive than modern women's. I don't see the attraction to shaving it off, when you don't have to adhere to the fashion and political dictates of the 1930s-40s.

Hi Vikki,
I myself can't see why a man would like to have lots of hair; IMO if it goes over the ears it's a hippie mop. There are also some skull forms that look better with a short haircut although e.g. Generalmajor Sendel's prominent ears make his sides shaved up to the high tide mark a bit extreme.
There's also the aspect of comfort. In my case when the hair is more than a finger width long I get almost unbearably hot due to lessened heat dissipation. All in all if it feels good and looks "bad" that cuts it for me.

I can see the advantage of having "white sidewalls" when one has to wear a hat /cap/helmet constantly, but shaving
to the extent Herr Sendel did does seem extreme. But I'm certain looking silly was the least of his concerns.

Re: Men's hair styles...
My first post here...
I recently had my stylist cut my hair in the "Hitler Youth"/Wehrmacht Officer's haircut, with the whitewall shaved sides, long on top, slicked back, and dyed blonde... my dilemma: I have tried many of today's styling gels to get that wet, slicked back look, but even though they hold well, there is still too much fullness/body to my hair. I want the look to be spot-on like the styles in the 30's and 40s you see in photos and films of the period... Can anyone recommend a specific hair tonic or pomade, or even gel, by name and company, that will give me not only control/hold, but the wet/slicked back styling???
