Re: Vehicle identity requests
Bert,
Some pictures you should be able to step into and shoot lots of detail pictures of the vehicle in it. If the GI at the nose of the vehicle is leaning his hand on the bonnet, it's a completly different vehicle. The vague 2nd rearwheel I dismissed as a part of the fiat at first. I've got more pictures of the laffly. I'll check asap (I'm getting home very late today, so don't hold your breath)

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Wow this brand laffly is a complete range of vehicles in 4x4 6x6 and ranging from "just a bit bigger than a kfz15" upto a kind of a scammel tractor.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
(sorry for the clipping in more tan one post, it won't aloww mor than one picture)
This picture has a shocking detail. I only identified it after I enlarged it. There's a burned body before the middle wheel. As it's the best picture to identify the vehicle I've hesitated to do so, but I've posted it anyway.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Piet,
thanks for posting these pics of Laffly vehicles. I tried to ID them with the help of Vauvillier´s book "L´automobile sous l´uniforme".
So I think the first vehicle is a Laffly S 15 R, the second a Laffly S 15 T, and the third is a Laffly S 20 TL. I´ll post pics of these vehicles out of this book.
Regards
Bert

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Going back to the Opel Blitz on the previous page, I see that there is some writing on the side of the body which confirms that the photo was originally reveresed. If you look at the side of the rear body at the front there is some writing in black which looks to start with the letter L. It is at the same height in the photo as the head of the man who is furthest to the right than the others!

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Exactly Larry. But, in all the thousends of period pictures, all technical info and some 30 surviving vehicles I've never even seen a single hint of a right hand drive Opel Blitz. So, I guess they never got exported to the U.K. or other left driving countries. (But I would love to be proven otherwise.....)

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Sturm, hi Piet,
You are right, Piet, it is a Krupp L 3 H 63. Here a pic with the same truck in a similar perspective (source: Reinhard Frank: Lastkraftwagen der Wehrmacht). Here You can see the three axes.
Regards
Bert

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Sturm 78,
thank You very much for posting these really interesting pics. I tried to ID these vehicles, but I only succeeded in one of them, the first. That is a Mercedes Benz G 3 a, it could be a Beobachtungskraftwagen (Kfz. 76). I´ll post a pic of such a vehicle (source: Reinhard Frank: Mercedes im Kriege, Waffen-Arsenal Band 94).
Regards
