Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Guys,
I see that while I slept there were several responses to my quiz. It appears that Kerry came the closest-
It is indeed a Citroen Traction Avant, a circa 1938 Type 11 BL with coachwork by Desagny et Renier.
Congratulations, Kerry and carry on with the quiz please.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Re-reading the thread I now understand that Kerry already posed the next question and it was answered by Bill. Living here in GMT+8 time zone sometimes confuses things especially before I finish my second cup of coffee in the morning! So whoever, please proceed with the quiz.
Cheers,
Max

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Wow, I am truly sorry for the confusion. I missed that Max had not authenticated Kerry's post and just carried on after ilian.
I will certainly be more careful in the future.
In the meantime, another "Beauty".

This was a mistake, Bill.
You should have blurred the manufacturer's name on the pic
I'll stay silent anyway, for I have nothing surprising handy.
Cheers!

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Well ilian, even with fairly new eyeglasses, my 76 year old eyes couldn't read it clearly so I left it there.
Hopefully, someone else can read it or recognize the vehicle without the tip.

Hi guys,
Even without deciphering the microscopic lettering I know a Cadillac La Salle when I see one. This example looks like a 1937 or thereabouts.

A most worthy quiz, Max...............
Either it will be solved quickly or it will take some time.
For me, I am lost...................

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Just based on the petrol filler pipe Stoewer Sedina with custom Polizei Tourenwagen bodywork.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Markus,
Hmmm... I was thinking of a different Polizei Tourenwagen but you have planted the seed of doubt in my mind. Does anyone have a pic of the Stoewer version, or another opinion, before I concede the point?

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Max,
What I've thought a filler pipe in some Sedinas apparently actually was a weird-ass taillight as in this Roadster which also has the filler cap in an unusual place:
Also Stoewer tourers appear to have had front-hinged front and rear doors but different running boards so whatever you thought the car it probably is.
Too bad the inactive lens lice are blocking all the good ID points.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
And the search goes on..............
After your first post, Markus, I found another shot of your Stoewer (An Arkona it says, not a Sedina) from the same film.
Couldn't make it work so I didn't post it then.
I am still thinking European, but the design of the rear end is more like some US variants so I am looking at both alternatives.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Markus and Bill,
Thanks for the pics. To my eyes they do not appear to have the elongated boot as on my pic but it's hard to tell from those angles. I would say they are inconclusive at this point. If we can't pin it down more definitively I will post my solution we'll proceed with a new pic.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Max:
I really cannot find a definitive answer but I found this photo that at least shows a portion of an elongated boot/trunk.
It is not the answer, but maybe another clue to follow.
