Hi uncle,
thank You very much for posting this interesting pic of Henschel tankers. Are You sure, that it is the right designation for this type. I thought the name "Merkur" (Mercury, a name of the Roman mythology: the Roman god associated with speed, sometimes used as a messenger) was only used by Hansa-Lloyd and Borgward.
Best regards
Bert

maybe I'm wrong.
Re: ► Photothread: Wehrmacht fuel tankers
Hi uncle,
do You have more information about the pic with the Henschel tankers?
It looks like an advertising pic of Henschel.
Best regards
Bert

Hi uncle,
thanks for posting this pic of a rare vehicle. It is a Merces-Benz type L 3750. Here another pic of this tanker (source: "Die Lastkraftwagen der deutschen Wehrmacht" by Pat Ware).
Best regards

Re: ► Photothread: Wehrmacht fuel tankers
Hi,
Think this is the same type of tanker seen on the front.
Picture is from Breda in Holland Mai 1940.

Looks smaller to me, Lo 2750 perhaps? There are some differences (headlight attachment, front bumper, lower bonnet, etc.)
Cheers!

Re: ► Photothread: Wehrmacht fuel tankers
Hi ilfil,
an interesting response. I agree with You, that it cannot be the type L 3750. It is smaller. But the type Lo 2750 also cannot be, because this truck was only built till 1937. On the pic is a truck with the new cab introduced in 1938. So I think it could be the type L 3000 from 1938 or 1939.
Regards
Bert

Re: ► Photothread: Wehrmacht fuel tankers
Hi Bert,
No objections. Let it be L 3000, I wasn't sure it is Lo 2750 anyway
In general I'm very suspicious when it comes to cabs of civilian trucks of 30s-50s era, or ex-civilian like the one on the picture. You know often many older models were retrofitted with new cabs of the same manufacturer, not to speak about coachbuilder's cabs which are real nightmare.
Cheers!
