Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
It is a Garner G3 4x4 FAT of which only 53 were built and only 23 for British Army. Interesting it has Micky Mouse camo on the tilt

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Quite correct, Larry.
According to Vanderveen, 53 were produced in total, originally for the Turkish Army.
I believe the total designation was Garner-Straussler G3.
Not stealing your ID, just adding a bit.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Another thing that was special about this truck is that it was powered by twin Ford V-8 engines!

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Larry,
You are the first who give a part of the right answer. Indeed it is a Garner-Straussler G3 4x4 FAT. The order for the Garner G3 was placed by the War Office in November 39 for 45 units, designated as FATs but with GS bodies and open cabs. WD nos H4649210-254.
For driving the car a specialist driver was needed, because the truck has two coupled Ford V8 engines.
Therefore you are the winner of this quiz.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
These are very interesting vehicles, but, I am not sure if these trucks were in Axis use. Do you know where the photo was taken please Protze?
Thanks,
Kerry.
Thanks,
Kerry.
Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Kerry,
I don't know where the picture was taken. The trucks where used in the North-Africa theatre (source: Maple Leaf Up/Garner 4x4 trucks/tractors).

Hello protze,
Just a friendly reminder that you have earned the right to pose the next question unless you would rather throw it open to all comers.

Hi Max,
The right to pose the next question is not for me, but for Larry Hayward. He gives the right answer on my question.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Ah, you are correct, protze. It's been nearly a month and I'd like to see this thread going again though. May I suggest if we don't hear from Larry soon that you post another question. I emailed Marcus recently in regard to a similar impasse in another quiz thread suggesting a one or two week time limit and he replied:protze wrote:Hi Max,

We already have such an informal rule, if there is no activity within lets say two days after the correct answer has been posted the quiz is open for anyone to post a new question to keep the quizzes moving. If no one has posted the correct answer within such a time period a hint or new question should be posted.
/Marcus

Hi all,
What is the mark of this truck and who made the modification?

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Protze:
Nice photo!!
The drive system is Daf/Trado from the Netherlands and I believe the truck is a Chevrolet mid 1930's. If not a Chevrolet, then it is a Ford of the same vintage.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Bill & Protze,
Very very interesting. AFAIK I've never seen a pic of the Daf/Trado drive system combined with Kégresse tracks before. I learn something every day from you guys here!

Hi Bill.
You gave the right answer, so the stage is yours. The "basic"truck is a Chevrolet.

Thanks Protze:
A quick one for today. I have to spend the day in Probate Court to get appointed the Executor/Administrator of my late brother's Estate.
What is this truck?
