Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hello Kees,
thank You for the information and the excellent site with the old trucks (powalski). You are right, Faun produced a model L 7, but after the war, beginning in 1949.
Now to Your answer to the quiz: I have to disappoint You. It´s not a Faun 600, but You are very near, like Bill.
I will post a picture of a Faun 600 D. (source: Faun Lastwagen 1926 - 1988 by Wolfgang Gebhardt). There are different wheels between the two models. Please compare.
I want to excuse me for the difficult question. The next time I will get a chance I´ll try to make it easier. Sorry! If there will be no right answer in the next twelf hours I will give over to Bill, because Bill told the near model Faun 600 D first.
Greetings
Bert

I am running out of alternatives here and this is the last hope for me.
I have looked through all the reference books I have and the only good clue is the design of the front wheels.
Sadly, my scanner is being a bad boy tonight and I cannot scan the photo I want but ca. 1935 there was a Faun model L 560 D that has the same type of wheels although a different cab and wheelbase in the book "Autotypenbucher" published in 1935 which I have in my collection.
Oh Yes, I do not believe Faun used gasoline engines in their larger trucks if at all.
Bill

Hello Bill,
The Beco axle, designed by Ing. Heidemann, was meant to convert small cars into tractors. With the help-axle cars like the Ford 34 hp Ford Eifel could tow up to 5,5 ton. According to a 1940 report in Auto, Motor und Sport, the first Beco axle was designed for the Ford Eifel while other versions for small Opels and Hanomags were on the drawing board.
To install the help axle, only the rear wings had to be modified while the help-axle could be bolted on the drums of the original axle. Further a revregulator had to be installed to keep the engine running in such a way that it gave an optimal torque. (Ford Eifel @ 2250 rpm)
Source: Reinhard Frank: Pkws der Wehrmacht, supplement on page 194.
Apart from Tatra's history ( I have written a Dutch book on Dutch Tatras) and am busy with an English book on Tatra ( including its ww2 history of course), I somehow am interested in the odds of how to keep everything running in the ww2 days.
A new question:
Name brand and type of this Kuebel. (sorry for the bad quality due to get the photo down to 800 pixels)

Thank you Kees for the info. In fact, I have the English version of that book and had forgotten that appendix way in the back. My memory suffers a bit more each year.
Your newest quiz subject is to say the least, a bit odd. I have never seen the vehicle before but I have an idea and will be looking about.

Hello
Not much action these days.
The car is a 1938 Jawa 1500cc flat four 4x4 Kübel captured by the Germans in 1939. Jawa, a well-known motorcycle manufacturere, started building cars in 1934. All cars had to stroke engines.

Here is a new quiz question......Please name brand and type
Come on Bill, you know it
