The official AHF Panzers & other vehicles quiz thread

Discussions on the vehicles used by the Axis forces.
Long-time forum member Ron Klages (1939 - 2007) generously shared his knowledge and the results of his impressive research with the forum, and this section has therefore been renamed in his honour.

Yes Markus:

And, with a bit of an odd mixture of tyres.
I have captioned it as an umbau but I am not positive of that as the Brits had a similar body/cab variant but I have no really good pics of it.

Over to you again.

Alan.....What model/manufacturer??

Cheers
Bill

Thanks Bill,

Next up another soft skin; Currently they appear to form the majority of quiztion subjects. That in itself is quite understandable since the other vehicles outnumbered the Panzers by a healthy margin. I however would like to express my gratitude that the fact that reportedly ca. 80% of Wehrmacht road transport was horse-drawn hasn't affected this quiz. Otherwise almost every quiztion would be: "Name that horse."

I'm fully aware that this may seem a very roundabout way of doing things but what I'd really like to say is: "Name that hearse."

Hi Markus:

I have no real evidence, and am probably way out of the picture, but to go with wheels again, it may be some sort of Maybach which was a "popular" vehicle for the Uber Famous.. even in their last day.

Regarding your other comment, I have been thinking also of including both horse drawn trailers and vehicle drawn trailers as we seem to be running out of armour/softskin questions that last more than a few minutes or hours.

Not a complaint, more a tribute to the degree of expertise that one can now see on this type of topic.

Cheers

Hi Bill,

A very generic looking German hearse with a bit odd bumper. AFAIS the short bonnet and w/b (and a revealing photo I've got stashed) however make it a marque other than Maybach and a model named after the head office city to the manufacturer.

Regards,
Markus

Hi Bert,

An excellent observation. I thought it a W 11 chassised Stuttgart 260 but since that was built on a couple of wheel base lengths and was quite similar to the W 37 chassised L 1000 it might be the latter too.

Over to you,
Markus

Bill, it is an old white metal 1/76 scale wargames model, I can't remember who made it as I bought it in a clear plastic bag with no labelling.

Hi Bill,

excellent! You got it in less than ten minutes. I had several pics to choose, and I chose the wrong. I think in the meantime everything is easy for You experts. So, Bill, it´s Your turn. Please go on and test us in a better way I did.

Hi Bert:

Thanks. I am just leaving my house for several hours, so why not try another one of your pics to keep the quiz moving on.

Cheers

Hi Markus,

simply great. I don´t know what to say, but I´m not able to put such a question, which could be a challenge for You. I can only congratulate You to Your knowledge and experience in identifying vehicles. So it´s Your turn now.

Thank you Bert,

Although truthfully my knowledge is like a trawl net: Relatively wide but thin and full of holes.

New subject; Again from exp. eBay.de.

Markus
