The official AHF Panzers & other vehicles quiz thread

Discussions on the vehicles used by the Axis forces.
Long-time forum member Ron Klages (1939 - 2007) generously shared his knowledge and the results of his impressive research with the forum, and this section has therefore been renamed in his honour.

That looks like the rear side of an SdKfz 251 Ausf A to me, the attachments for the tools.

Piotr,Up until now I'd only ever seen the holder for the axe head on the 233 that is why I used that number. Why do you say that your pic is a 232 rather than a 231 , I can't see any extra antennas.

It was labelled as 232, but you are right - 232 had no antenna on the left side of the turret.
Unfortunately I can't tell anything more about this photo. I'm not even sure if it was made in Warsaw in 1942 and historical map of Warsaw is unavailable right now.

Piotr, I tried googling Warschau 1942 but there were other terrible things hapening there in that year which dominated the results.
I am now going to have to stretch myself to find something as obscure as the front plate of an armoured car !

Maybe not 10 seconds but this is rear of the BA-6. Or BA-3, as it was described on Beute Narod.ru website ;)

Hi Alan/Markus/Bert et al:

I would just like to say that we have a new major player in the Identification Quiz Game

Piotr is good........ Only 15 months on the Forum and he is knocking down questions one after the other and as well posting some real challenges.

Keep it up Piotr, it is fun to watch...........

Cheers

Bill, I think I was registered here earlier but... I couldn't find login and password so it was much easier to register new account :)
But with this account I'm much more active. And I'm pretty far from being good, it's just beginner's luck.

Piotr, You have the pic exactly but oddly in my book the author has identified if as a BA-10 !!! It just goes to show that we can't trust caption writers ! Over to you.

Piotr, that looks like a Pz III, the driver's visor would match anything from a J onwards and since everything from the L had the spaced armour on the driver's plate I'll guess this is an early J.
