The official AHF Panzers & other vehicles quiz thread

Discussions on the vehicles used by the Axis forces.
Long-time forum member Ron Klages (1939 - 2007) generously shared his knowledge and the results of his impressive research with the forum, and this section has therefore been renamed in his honour.

Hi Alan & Bill,

Very Chittychittybangbangish for sure but a Delaunay-Belleville I make it too despite the unusually unhobbity radiator grille. Maybe for the best that the world was spared from my intended hint involving a Roosevelt and springs.

Over to Bill,
Markus

Thanks Markus:

I will just throw up a quick one here. As tracked thingies are not my bag, I can say I never saw this one before.

Cheers

Hi Markus:

Well, yes, and this shows once again that I should stay with my softies. What I think is exotic turns out to be quite ordinary.
I am not complaining, just a learning curve issue.

Over to Finland again. BTW If I remember correctly, today is Midsommardagen i Sverige. Is it also the same in Finland??

Here on our first day of summer it is 92F which I think is about 34C. Hot Hot Hot.

Cheers

Just luck. Had you cropped the Pz. IV running gear I'd have thought it Japanese at first.

Pretty close: The eve is tomorrow and Juhannus on Saturday (in Finland since 1955 the Midsummer Day has been celebrated on the first Saturday after 19 June).

Sounds like Hell on a hot day; 10ºC and partly cloudy is my ideal summer weather.

New subject; Model name smudged from the exp, eBay.de photo,

Hi Markus:

Been a long, hot day doing duties for the wife in the garden.

I will take a quick guess that it is a Lanz Bulldog and I do not know the year or the model number

Cheers

Hi Bill,

A Lanz Bulldog it is; I suspect an early Eilbulldog from ca. 1935 since the radiator grille matches the early 30's Verkehrsbulldog. Dunno the model number either. Uncensored photo below.

Over to you again,
Markus

Hi Alan:

I missed the photo, did a search on the actual train "name" and it did not come up.
Each one had a separate "Panzerzug Number" and it was this I was looking for.
If no one gets the number pretty soon I think you have the question as you found the actual train at least.

Cheers

Hi Bill,

At least Panzerzüge Nr. 26-31 at times had both Somua 35 S (f) tanks and a couple of armoured gun wagons for a total of two to four 7,62 cm F.K. 295/l (r) per train. Maybe this one is Nr. 28; I've seen a photo of that train with the same gepanzerter Geschützwagen.

Regards,
Markus
