The official AHF Panzers & other vehicles quiz thread

Discussions on the vehicles used by the Axis forces.

Hi Markus:

It is indeed Panzerzug PZ28. I misplaced the link but will post it when I find it.

Over to you again.

Cheers

Hi Markus:

Stumbling right along in another area outside of my normal research.

I would hazard a guess that this might be a prototype of the Demag D7/Sd.Kfz10 cargo/personnel half track.
A lot of the photo looks like the ordinary early versions but the front mudguards look like they came off of a civilian vehicle and the arrangement of the side doors etc. vary slightly from the "action" photos I have seen.

Cheers

Hi Bill,

Close: It's a prototype of HK 601, the vehicle that was supposed to replace the Sd. Kfz. 10 (and 11). Photo from Die Halbkettenfahrzeuge des Deutschen Heeres 1909 - 1945 by Walter J. Spielberger.

Over to you,

Hi Markus:

Yes, and I really wish I knew who the coachbuilder was. I have seen such bodies done in Belgium so it may have been done there. Interesting that the car has the Notek system which I always thought was mostly restricted to front line units.
Also no white paint/tape on the mudguards but the chromium plate is still on the front bumper.
Anyway, an interesting vehicle.

Over to you again.

Cheers

Thanks Bill,

New question: Where is this combination coming from? (Photo from exp. eBay.de).

Hi Markus:

Is this the railroad car in which the Treaty of Versailles was signed being moved by Hitler to receive the surrender of the French in 1940 or some such??
Edit: Here is a photo of the car.

Hi Bill,

Very close but not quite the Versailles treaty and the armistices of 1918 and 1940 were signed in the same place so the Kaelble and Culemeyer bound for Germany are coming from...?

Hi Markus:

Meh..............
You have exhausted my total knowledge of ordinary railroad cars

I did know the Kaelble but understood it was not the question.

Sorry for my poor knowledge of history, I thought the car had been stored or something. Not so, left in the same place I guess.

Carry On

Hi Bill,

Since you've added a photo of the Compiègne car you've obviously seen the forest from the trees so over to you again.

Hi Bill,

Since you posted a new photo of the dining car where the armistice treaties were signed at Compiègne and that place was the quiztion subject I felt it was justified to make the pass especially since were going into the wee hours in Finland. Anyhoo here's the full Kaelble, Culemeyer and Compiègne car photo with a sign saying something, something Armistice.
