Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Max,
You got it, I think, because it´s difficult to ID the Hotchkiss cars. So please go on with the quiz. B.t.w. an excellent pic of this cabriolet.
Best regards
Bert

Thank you, Bert.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Very Good, Bill. From the wheels it could possibly be a Primaquatre, but the bodies both look virtually identical to me from this angle. Carry on, Sir!
Cheers,
Max

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Max:
Thanks. And you are correct, they all look so much alike. Your car could well be a Prima instead of a Celta. Once the cars got put into military service, a lot of changes could occur that blur some of the identity characteristics.
On to the next. And.....I have to repeat what I and others have said many times, it is getting harder to find new materials for this thread
I spent over an hour searching the site/thread history to see if candidates had already been posted and the first several had already been done.
I did not find this one so hopefully, it is new.

Spot On, Markus!!!
Methinks the body of knowledge displayed here is quite overwhelming. Unless we disguise the photo as is sometimes done on the armour quiz thread, the quizzes are getting solved really quickly.
Over to Finland again.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hint: Based on the style of civvies worn by the man in the front the tractor is in its homeland.
Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hint: Had its origins in the crossing of Apple and Boxwood in Augsburg but spread to a neighbouring country.
Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hint: Manufactured tractors only briefly (1936-1942).
Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Of course Augsburgers wouldn't have said Apple-Boxwood; Even what I surmise to be the Apple wasn't fresh but maybe ancient Germanic.peeved wrote:Hint: Had its origins in the crossing of Apple and Boxwood in Augsburg but spread to a neighbouring country.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hi Bill,
Valiant effort but the actual name is composed of two German surnames much closer to Apple-Boxwood. Re: the country of origin, do note the civilian type's Tirolerhut, cape and cleated boots.

Re: Axis Non-Armored Vehicles quiz
Hmmm...
OK, one of my stubborn periods.
I have been fiddling with this one all morning (my time) and I can make no sense out of your tips. My fault, not yours.
However, I have found that M.A.N. licensed their motors to ÖAF of Austria during your time period.
M.A.N. was originally based in Augsberg.
I have found no written or photographic evidence of any production of tractors by this combination, but that is where I am at for the moment.
M.A.N-ÖAF XXXXX ?
