Hello all-
I would like to ask if anyone can help me find some info on Panzerjäger-Kompanie 1175 of Panzerjäger Abteilung 175, 75 Infanterie-Division, from roughly mid-1944 to wars end. I'm interested in knowing exactly which self-propelled anti-tank vehicles this unit was outfitted with, and details of their combat history from roughly mid-June of 1944 through May of 1945.
Any help will be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Rob

Re: HELP: Panzerjäger Abteilung 175 (Pz.Jäg.Komp.1175) 75.I.D.
Stu.Gesch.Abt. 1175 was formed on 6.6.1944 by simply renaming Stu.Gesch.Abt. 1601, a 'Heerestruppen' unit formed itself by renaming the former Stu.Gesch.Abt. 1348 of the 348. Inf.Div. which had been equipped with 10 StuG III in Feb/Mar 1944 in France. Renaming to Stu.Gesch.Abt. 1601 and immediate transfer to the Eastern Front was ordered at the end of March 1944 and the company then served tactically attached to the 131. Inf.Div. until the beginning of June 1944.
I do not have further details about the combat history of Stu.Gesch.Abt. 1175. It remained in action with the 75. Inf.Div. until the end of the war. On 6.10.1944 it was renamed to Pz.Jg.Kp. 1175 and on 27.2.1945 to Jagdpz.Kp. 1175. Although records do not show any replacement Sturmgeschütze being sent to 75. Inf.Div. during 1944/45 it appears a few might have been taken over perhaps from other units leaving the front for refit because by 30.12.1944 the number of available StuG III had risen to 12. Last report I know of is dated 15.4.1945 when still 9 StuG III were on hand.
During the same time frame 1944/45 the other two companies of Pz.Jg.Abt. 175 were equipped with towed 7,5 cm Pak 40 (1. Kp.) and towed 2cm Flak 38 (3. Kp.).

Martin,
Perhaps I have mis-read your post, but there appears to be evidence that StuG-Abt 1348 was in action in Normandy as late as early to mid August 1944. I know very little about this unit but it came up when I was doing some research on 21.PD and ran across a British intelligence report regarding two StuGs found in Tilly-la-Campagne in August 1944 with turmnummers 211 & 212 and with a Lebensrune as an apparent unit insignia.
