Re: Interesting eBay pics
Good evening, Sander!
Funny photo (although not for the Tiger's crew).
I wonder what would happen if that bridge was crossed by Konigstiger!
Best regards, Aleks

Re: Interesting eBay pics
Nice photo. It's Heinz Nordhoff, the later VW chief, on Hitler's left. Nordhoff worked for the Opel Brandenburg plant.

I have 2 questions:
Is that a " Befehlspanzer"? I cant see a gun and the mast looks like a antenna?
regards
Henning
Re: Your question from 21st October. I doubted it at the time, but seems the standard flying mast in my post from the 19th was an actual antenna and the vehicle a Panzerbefehlswagen. Below Pz.Bef.Wg. III Ausf. D photo from eBay.de showing a similar telescopic antenna, according to the seller a Kurbelmast 9 m; a type more often seen on radio lorries.

Markus

Markus ,your picture shows a map table infrond of the cupola.
Could it be a field conversion, because it's the only picture of this vehicle with a map table.
Nice picture.

It could be a the big brother of the Sd.Kfz.300 Borgward BII "Ente" .Borgward B IV carrying (bit awkwardly) a Pionierfähre or some such dinghy (Source eBay.de).

A Borgward IV Ausf.B amphibian
You can see the 2 propellors, one on the left ( just above the letter A )end one on the right.

Re: Interesting eBay pics
Hi Sander,
And thanks for the link to the "Flivopanzer" thread.
That was the first Befehlspanzer III with external map table I've seen also. Field conversion is probably a good bet.

Markus

If the turtleback boat was meant to amphibize the B IV it likely followed the Duck. AFAIK the regular B II was produced in 1940; Dunno about the Ente but probably around the same time. The B IV looks like a late Ausf. B with dry pin tracks to me, production year probably 1943 or so.

Markus
