Re: Interesting eBay pics
Hello Max,
This cover on a Latil TAR looks very similar and probably fulfilled the same function,
Kerry.

Re: Interesting eBay pics
A 1937 model Opel Olympia with what the original caption refers to as Militär Eisenbahner, Vesoul France, 1940.
Cheers,

Here is another photo of the French BBT sound locator I found in another thread on this site. It appears to have been abandoned and then captured by German troops. This shot shows the whole unit more clearly. In the foreground is the ribbed framework for units tarpaulin cover. It has been removed and turned upside down on the ground - the supporting rods are visible. A strange but interesting piece of equipment.

Re: Interesting eBay pics
A proud family poses with their shiny new '37 Opel Olympia. One sadly hesitates to think of how they fared by 1945.
Cheers,
Max

Re: Interesting eBay pics
Sadly, I know nothing about artillery or uniforms, but the half track seems to be based on a Ford Model A chassis.
I am looking everywhere, but have not found anything on this particular half track but I am guessing it might have been from Switzerland.

Re: Interesting eBay pics
Hi Uwe:
This was a really fun ID project!!!
I was correct in that it is based on a Ford Model A chassis but it is German, not Swiss.
So far, I can ID it as a Heidemann kettenschlepper based on a Ford Model A chassis and marketed by ATRAG of Berlin.
This one was under test as a military artillery tractor but I have no further details.
Below are several photos of other such vehicles in civilian use and the back of a post card giving the selling company's address.
I will pass on any other further information I come up with. For now, I do not know if Heidemann was a name used by ATRAG or
if it was a separate company.

Re: Interesting eBay pics
Hi Uwe:
It seems that Bartko Reher came across quite a lot of these photos and I found this one as well on ebay.de. He also was selling items on ebay.at and ebay.ch.
I have no further details on this Opel semi half track.

Re: Interesting eBay pics
Hello Bill, thank you! I saw the items on ebay.de and they were very expensive. But - fortunately, my main interest is all about the artillery
