Bert, that would be the AS43 Metropolitana in fact, they carried fewer Jerrycans when used in Europe and so were called this instead of Sahariana.SIS 5 wrote:Hi,

Hi Alan,
thank You very much for the correction. I didn´t know about the term "Metropolitana".

Bert, I can't claim anything clever there, some one told me so I'm just passing it on.

the vehicle 'WL 00858' belongs to the Stab schwere Flakabteilung 603 (=HQ, heavy AA Bn 603), stationed in Italy. 00858 is the Feldpost-number

Hi Max,
thanks for posting this really good pic of a FIAT truck, but I think it is the smaller type 626.
Best regards

Max,
I have this one as a 666, but is it also the smaller variety?
Thanks,
Kerry.

Re: Photothread: Italian Vehicles in German Service
Hi Kerry,
Yes, that's another 626. IMO the best ID point from the frontal sector is the fact that military 666s have the headlights almost touching the bumper like this
while there is a distinct gap between the headlights and bumper in the 626.

I also thank you, Markus, for your astute observation. It is indeed the 3 tonner rather than the 6 tonner.
Cheers,
