Hello to all ; a little more..................................................
Maintenance and recovery of combat vehicles.
During the advance, the disabled tanks remained on territory under own control, therefore after being located was prepared for its evacuation. The tracks and the suspension were checked to determine whether it could be moved, in the event that the sprocket and some of the wheels of the bogies were badly damaged, the caterpillars were shortened and placed around the idler wheel and bogies in service. If the tank was still immobilized, a new bogie wheels were installed. After the suspension was put operational again a prime mover (usually a Sd Kfz 9) was hooked to the tank. Depending on the condition of the armored, it was hooked from the front or the rear. As a rule the caterpillars were never completely removed to prevent further damage to the bogies.
