Hello,

1st-Unknown location or unit Jagdpanther shot.

2nd-Panther in the background. Could be Pz Rgt 11 crest. I assume this could be winter 1945-46?

3rd-SS Pz Abt 11, SS Pz Rgt 11 Hermann von Salza wreck. I am unsure of location.

Three more.

1st-What I speculate to be a Pz Rgt 107 Befehlspanther in Erp, Netherlands. Excuse any spelling errors. I think this is from a Concord book, but I am not sure.

2nd-Pz Abt 5 - 25 Pz Gr Div. Alsace shot (?). eBay shot.

3rd-Schwere Panzer Jager Abt 654 Normandy. I do not have a proper location caption for this one. Non-english website.

Hello Arthur,

The Panther "in the background" is without doubt from I./Pz.Rgt. 31 of 5. PD. Havent you see the devils head on black ground, the regimental sign of Pz.Rgt. 31? The Panzer IV in front of the Panther has also this unit sign and therefore is a vehicle of II./Pz.Rgt. 31.

Regards, Holger.

Hello Holger-

You had a better eye than me -thanks. I am guessing this is in the vicinity of Konigsberg 1945 or 1946?

Best wishes,

Arthur

It was a Russian or Spanish website-I will re-trace my steps. I may not be able to do it.

Starting fresh here. I have to do a better job of sourcing any photos I do post, and my postings will be relevant to questions on unknown locations or unknown unit IDs only. Each will have a internet source URL address. At the same time I will try to help anyone that has ID questions on Panther wrecks or captured Panthers. If a shot is properly ID-ed I will not re-post.

Very interesting Lone Sentry page on the impacts of 90mm ammunition on a Panther hulk.

Pz Abt 51 Kursk 1943 shots, via this site "Grinnols"-a Russian website. Same location for both shots.

Looks like the 1st photo was a A.V. photo collection photo.

Ebay photo.

I/SS Pz Rgt 2 DR in Normandy is my guess due to the "high and right" numbering.

I had not seen this photo before.

The Grinnols site again.

Baccurat, France March 1945. Lorraine, I believe.

No idea as to unit.

No Caption on this Eastern Front 1945 shot. I have no idea as to unit or location. Appears to be a non-western Allied soldier.

Again, a Grinnols website shot.

This is an Ardennes 1944-45 shot.

THe first vehicle's tactical numbering is "50?"

This could be II/Pz Lehr Rgt 130?
I do not know the location and this was the Grinnol's russian website again.

I remember seeing a photograph of some Panthers circa Poland 1947 or so. They never got removed for salvage and locals had slowly taken parts off. Does anybody have photos like these?

Was this common in the east (tanks sitting out in the open for years after the war because resources/manpower were lacking to salvage them)?
