Hi Sturm 78,

after searching in the net I think it is a captured French Gnome et Rhone 350ccm type Super Major from the year 1939 (source of the pic: https://www.flickr.com/photos/michel_67 ... 321505275/)-

Best regards

Bert

A bent Zündapp (K 500 W I think). Note the severed cylinder head with broken piston rod in the foreground. Yikes! 8O

Hi Max,

on the pics You posted are two different types of BMW motorcycles. On the second pic is a BMW type R 11. Here a pic of this motorcycle out of the book "Von A wie Ardie bis Z wie Zündapp" by Horst Hinrichsen.

Thanks Bert. I didn't really look at the second one, I just assumed it was another R 4. Live and learn as they say!

I think the distinguishing feature is the headlight mount.

Hi Luftflotte 2,

here pics of these motorcycles for comparing (BMW R 4 out of the book "Kraftfahrzeuge und Panzer der Reichswehr, Wehrmacht und Bundeswehr" by Werner Oswald; BMW R 11 out of the book "Deutsche Militärmotorräder" by Frank Rönicke). You will see that there are more differences.

Regards

Bert
