"Fritz" (Bayerlein :) ),

Do you make those maps yourself?

Also, do you have any pics of destroyed/abandoned equipment from SS AA 1 (Puma's, Schwimmers, others)?

Regards,
Timo

I'm tempted to say that the tank on the roadside is an Achilles tank destroyer (unless M10's with a muzzle brake existed).

Those Tigers..................

#67

Post by Michael Kenny » 13 Apr 2003, 16:58

The Tiger descrided as being in Falaise is in fact the Tiger left in Marle (shown on an earlier page)
The photo of the Tiger II '02' is a new photo of this beast. I have never seen it before and I have done a lot of looking. Where did it come from and are there any more Tiger pictures you have like that?

Samur Tiger is not from Marle

#71

Post by Michael Kenny » 14 Apr 2003, 03:25

The Samur Tiger has steel wheels, the Marle Tiger was rubber wheeled.
Check this for the Samur Tiger, http://www.info-micro.com/engins/archives/tiger.htm
I am actualy trying to first find all photos of Tigers in France 1944 and then to try and identify the Units/turret numbers. As most were burnt out finding the numbers is very difficult. It will take years to finish.
I am glad you like the SS 101 site. Just recently I found some more unpublished film of a captured Tiger in Normandy (no.114 captured in running order 27/6/44) and we are working hard to track down the rest of Wittmanns Unit. If you have any specific information on any Tiger in France I would be very interested.
The photo below is a less well known shot of a command Tiger somewhere in France. It is probably a Tiger from SS 102.
If you know of any 'new' photos of Aliied vehicles destroyed at Villers Bocage that would also interest me.

Bayerlein Spirit,

This has been discussed before in the past, but given the number of photos in this thread it's very important:

Do you own the copy rights for all shown photos?

Copyright

Don't worry Timo, almost all pictures I share with members, we could find
in the web with deep searches (google, kartoo, copernic...) and few with 50's 60's french revues, news papers... ( public domain )
I post like all members like that.
However one or two pictures are more "confidential".
I will try to from now on indicate the source, the number from now under the pict for possible problem. Even though I think it's detrimentable to refuse to share for WW2 knowledge on the web for copyright fact.
For my own pictures, it's a pleasure for me to share my collection.

Regards
Bayerlein spirit
