Hi all,

here a ZiS - 6 truck, stuck in the ice of a frozen lake or river (source of the pic: an expired ebay auction).

Hi all,

here a pic of a captured ZiS-6 workshop truck. It could be the model B (походная мастерская типа Б, ПМ - 5-6). Source of the pic: an expired ebay auction.

Hi all,

here another pic of a captured ZiS-6 workshop truck. I think it could be the model B (походная мастерская типа Б, ПМ - 5-6). Source of the pic: an expired ebay auction.

Hi Kerry!
Thanks for the good pictrue! However, I'm afraid this isn't ZiS-5 but long wheelbase ZiS-14 chassis, ex-searchlight carrier. Like these:

The low body and the backrests of the crew seats are well visible on your pic.

HTH,
Many thanks, I had never seen one of those. Even better than a ZiS-5 I guess.

Kerry.

This is, I hope, a Zis-5, but I have a question. Are the tow-hooks a modification or an indication of early/late production? They do not appear to be fitted to all of the vehicles I have seen photos of. Also, it is possble that the angle causes the vertical bar to be "absorbed" into the passenger side panel, but the 'screen does not appear to be divided.
Thanks for looking, and for any advice offered,
Kerry

Hi,

here a pic with two ZiS 5 trucks. It looks like the trial to make one mobile truck out of two damaged (source of the pic: an expired ebay auction).

After a long time searching I have finally found a clear view of a ZIS 5V in German use. I cannot remember the last view of one of these which I have seen.

A holzgas-converted ZIS with SS plates and a fresh coat of winter camouflage. The number plate is just discernible with a bit of manipulation.

This Zis appears to be an impressed civilian truck judging by the colour which is dark gloss and too dark for German grey.

AMO-2? No way, Bill, sorry. Look at those typical Ford wheels. This is GAZ-AA.

Hi ilfil:

I am in no way an expert or even an amateur when it comes to Russian trucks so you may be correct.

However, here is a patch to the original story and I assumed they knew what they had salvaged.

Bill

Edit: I just noticed one commenter asked if it was not a GAZ AA. There was no answer.
