Another Panzer numbering question?
Another Panzer numbering question?
I've got a question concerning panzer numbering as it relates to Fall Gelb in France 1940. I've found that the Osprey book "Panzer Divisions: The Blitzkrieg Years 1939-40" is a decent source for lots of useful info. Seems to be fairly well researched and packed full of details.
I'm fairly well versed now on the tank numbering but this has me puzzled.
In the chart below from the above mentioned book, you'll see I've circled the "leicht zug". Then below are the 1 and 2 zug. The numbers of which would be 112 for example for the 1st company, 1st platoon, 2nd tank. But what would be the numbering for this
"leichte zug"??? While I'm at it is the "kompanie troop" the command structure for the platoon or something completely different?
Would the number for the "kompanie troop" be 100, 101, 102 possibly?

Thanks for any insight.

Re: Another Panzer numbering question?
Hello!
Yes, the numbers of the Kompanie-Trupp tanks were usually numbered 10X. Concerning the Leichte Zug I'm not sure. In some cases it was almost certainly X4X i.e. the 4th platoon as there seem to be many pictures with X4X numbered Panzer II from the 1940 campaign.

Yes, the Kompanietrupp was the command element of the Kompanie. The tank of the company commander etc..

Hello!
If I remember correctly the Leichte Zug was numbered 01 - 05.
