Re: Captured & converted French equipments in Axis service
Emmanuel, I think it is a Fiat 626. Nice photo!
Re: Captured & converted French equipments in Axis service
Thank you, Luftflotte2.
This Fiat 626 could have been captured from the French Army which operated hundreds of these trucks in 1940 according to:

Did the Italians sell them to France then ?

Re: Captured & converted French equipments in Axis service
Emmanuel,
"Procured" is one thing, "operated" is quite another.
According to the documents, the French army has ordered 1650 Fiat 626s, with proposed delivery of 150 per month, the final batch delivery was fixed Februalry 1940. However, till 10 June 1940 only about 700 of them were received.
It looks like the picture you've posted is taken at the final stages of WW2.
According to the documents again, after the armistice on 8 September 1944, the Mirafiori factory has produced for the needs of the Wehrmacht in total 3323 Fiat 626s and 628s (Einheits cab 626 version) till the end of the year and another 23 in the January 1945, when the factory production was terminated.
So the chance the 626 on your pic is "genuine German" is much bigger, I think. Could be also some survived veteran from the French deliveries, of course. But also could be some "borrowed" from the friendly Italians, or "liberated" from the enemy Italians after September 1944.
So only one thing is sure: it is Fiat 626
HTH
Cheers!
Edit: It didn't came to me earlier to check. When the photo was magnified the truck in concern started to look more like 666 model, judging from some details. For example the headlights are too low for 626. So the French connection can be totally ignored.

Emmanuel
P.S. I think you mean the armistice of September 8, 1943.

Re: Captured & converted French equipments in Axis service
Of course it was in 1943
Doing many things at once isn't always good
Sorry for the mistake. Apparently an average monthly output of about 1000 trucks of 626 model alone is too much even for such big factory!
Cheers!

Re: Captured & converted French equipments in Axis service
Do you know, any book, about French trucks, cars and other vehicles, captured and used by the Wehrmacht? And by the way, about Italian vehicles in German use?
My Christmas Book Wishlist:

Re: Captured & converted French equipments in Axis service
Thanks, HTH. I have this book. I was thinking more, in a dedicated book about the French and Italian vehicles used by the Germans. Something like the Tankograd books:
or partially in:
