Not so sure about the T26 picture. If you look at the hatch it appears you can see the trees and GI through it.

It is the wrong shape for a single hatch, and looking at other T26 photos the type of turret this tank has should have two hatches a round one and a square one.

This SCW oldie appears to have only one turret hatch; An early Model 1933 IIRC:

Yes, Republican T-26s did retreat into France.

It makes some sense since the rear guard of Republican refugees fleeing into France was made up of the surviving elements of of the Army of Ebro and the 26th Division. Some of these men ended up in the 9th Armoured Company of the 2nd Armoured Division of the Free French Forces and took part in the Liberation of Paris.
