How to search Polish Narodowe Archiwum Cyfrowe photo index?

Polish is quite difficult language and it's hard to find photos. Below is shor guide how to search in Polish so-called Narodowe Archiwum Cyfrowe (National Digital Archive) resources:

2. What name of boxes mean?
Wyszukuj wśród nagrań - search recordings
Wyszukuj wśród obrazów - search photos
Tytuł tematu - title of photo
Opis obrazu / nagrania - description of photo / recording
Sygnatura - signature
Data wydarzenia od: - date from
Data wydarzenia do: - date to
Autor - author of photo / recording
Miejsce - place
Osoby widoczne / słyszane - person visible on photo
Osoby niewidoczne - person not visible on photo
Hasła przedmiotowe - keyword


3. How to fill fields?
The best way is to fill these boxes with keywords. It gives the most results and we can search through them. Photos have good and precise descriptions rarely, most photos are not properly described. You may find keyboards with dictionary, Google Translator or sth like like that.


4. Few examples
Following fields were filled:
Opis obrazu: czołg
Data wydarzenia od: 1918
Data wydarzenia do: 1939

Czołg means tank. The result of that search will give you 116 entries with photos of different armoured vehicles and units dated between 1918 and 1939.


Following fields were filled:

Data wydarzenia do: 1939
Hasła przedmiotowe: samochód

Samochód means car. The result of that search will give you 447 entries with photos of different vehicles dated between 1918 and 1939.


Following fields were filled:

Hasła przedmiotowe: samolot

Samolot means aircraft. The result of that search will give you 188 entries with aviation related photos dated between 1918 and 1939.
