Hi storm,
if you look at the load then the Faun could belong to a "Tankholz-Kommado" . Tank-timber-command have harvest wood for wood gas vehicles.

Re: Soft Skin Vehicle Photo Repository
Truly, a most interesting and challenging photo to try to sort out.
To be honest, my first reaction was that it is a post war photo, perhaps a vehicle being used to collect timber for reconstruction work. The registration plate is a bit of a problem with that possibility as is the fact that the Notek light is still fitted and it looks like the headlamps are still masked.
On the other hand, the rear tyres are very "British" looking off road tread types, something I do not find on typical photos of this truck. As well, the lads don't seem to be very military and there is no continuity to their clothing and none seem to be wearing military caps. The colour scheme to me is white, not desert tan which is also unusual.
A further possibility, and I note John Hilly made a comment, the cammo would be sort of typical for Finland and I have many, many civilian truck photos both before, during and after the war of Finnish trucks of various marques hauling similar loads of wooden logs.
Sturm, do you have any details on where the photo was taken??
Bill

Re: Soft Skin Vehicle Photo Repository
RW 5003 registration was assigned to Wehrkreis V Stuttgart so I would look for local top brassFrankfurter wrote:RW-5003 is quite curious, this and the luxurious type of car do give a hint that it could be the car of one of the "top 3" in the Reichswehr/Wehrmacht, von Fritsch or Beck should be a good guess.
Registration plate from Leipzig.Bill Murray wrote:Post Number:#1252 Edit: I just noticed this one still has a civilian registration plate which makes it even more unusual. Converted to a kubel even before getting proper paperwork!!
Unfortunately, WH-51469 shown in post #1285 doesn't give us clear answer:Bill Murray wrote:Too bad I don't know anything about WH registration plates, that may give us a date range.
• If photo was made before 19th June 1939, it was vehicle from Wehrkreis V Stuttgart and registration was assigned between 1935 and 1937.
• If photo was made after 19th June 1939, registration plate will tell us nothing.
Almost certainly early version - old metal cabin variant, rounded fenders and standard bumper.Sturm78 wrote:Image 1: Bussing-NAG 4500S late version

I own 1936y/b Adler Trumpf Junior cabriolimousine for 20 years and insist that the car pictured is not Trumpf Junior and not Adler generally, though its front eagle has some resemblance with Adler's.kerryboo wrote:A sporty little Adler, a model of Trumpf Junior I suspect, personal transport of an army officer.

Re: Soft Skin Vehicle Photo Repository
I believe this is a Wanderer W 11 10/50 PS Kübelwagen. It could possibly be an Adler type 12 N-RW but based on the inward dishing of the wheels I'll go with the Wanderer.
Cheers,
