Hi Sturm 78,

first to the Henschel: I think it is the type 30 T 2, but I cannot prove.

Here a good pic with Saurer BT 4500 trucks (source of the pic: an expired ebay auction).

Hi Bert,
On Sturm's pic how do you tell it's a 30 T2 and not a 28 T1/2? I got the impression from Holger's site that the 30 series had the headlights mounted on the bumper rather than the fenders like the 28:
The Henschel type 28 T 1 / 2 was complemented by the Henschel type 30 T 1 / 2 - of which it differed by the 6 wheel bolts and the headlights attached on the fenders - beginning in 1937.

Hi Max,

thank You very much for the reply and the pics. You are right. On the pics on Holger´s site the headlights are mounted on different places, either on the bumper or on the fenders. Nontheless I have the impression that the truck on the pic Sturm 78 posted is the type 30 T 2. Firstly the headlights are mounted not so high on the fenders like the type 28 T 2, secondly the motorhood is longer than the type 28 T 2and thirdly the whole vehicle seems to be heavier, larger, higher than the type 28 T 2. The best mark we cannot see, the bolts on the wheel. So we can only make speculations about the right type.

Best regards

Bert

Thanks for your very reasoned argument, Bert. I'll file it as an "either/or" for now.

Hi tigre,

a very interesting pic. The truck on the pic You posted is the type M 50, a truck of the so called "Hilfszug Bayern" (auxiliary platoon/unit), a special truck with 155 cooking boxes, each for 40 litres, for cooking meals until done and keeping them warm. (source of the information: "Das Lastwagen-Album Magirus" by Bernd Regenberg.
