Hello Francy,

I just got an email from a very good friend of me, Dominique GUILLAUME from Belgium, that you had this truck to identify. He is not registred but reads a lot in this Forum. He told me it is a Belgian truck FN 63c 4rm.

He also sent me next picture :

Hi Sander:
Here is another shot of what seems to be a similar location and perhaps same truck but I do not remember if we ever ID'd the truck.

Anybody care to try this one?
I tried to blow up the photo as you can see a script on the grille of the leading small truck which is followed by another of the same make. It almost looks like Steyr but I do not have a similar photo of a Steyr pickup type vehicle.

Hi Bill,
Reading your message once more, I realise that your question isn't about the Praga but about the Steyr.
The Steyr truck is the type 740. 350 units were built between 1937 and 1939.

Does anyone know which unit this German truck belongs to? The photo is from 1941, most likely Estonia during the drive towards Reval/Tallinn. This is just part of the photo; the rest shows German infantry resting by the roadside. I've consulted Christoph Awender's unit sign lists, but haven't found anything resembling it. Could it be an alternative marking for the 291. Infanterie-Division? Also, what make is that truck?

Thanks in advance!
- Björn

Hi Kees:
Thank you, and here is a little better shot of a 740.

Sander, I am afraid you are correct. There is not enough of the truck there for me to make any kind of decision.

Hi Bill
Another shot of the Steyr 740 light flatbed truck. Apparently a works photo of a prototype (Louvres in the bonnet are different than on the WH licensed light trucks p[osted earlier.)

Thanks again Kees, much better photo.
BTW, my first was from an old ebay auction and the second from http://www.zf24.de where one can find a lot of information on Steyr and Fiat products.

What about this kubel. Seems to be the only shot like this I have seen. Also from a long ago ebay auction.

Hi Bill,
Could there be some Borgward connection. The radiator and fenders look a bit like this photo file of a 1939 Borgward 2000 on my computer although most of the bodywork, especially the doors doesn´t. Couldn´t google the original photo but there´s a thumbnail at http://www.mirbach.de/main.asp?main=lexikon_44&nav=1

Thank you Markus:
I think you may have it and I will do some further research on both Borgward and Hansa vehicles.
My first thought was it was an Adler because of the grille emblem that resembles the eagle but the grille itself would not fit. Then, a Tatra 57 variant but again not enough things fit together.

In the meantime, what about this one. I want to call it an American vehicle due to the general shape of the grille, the American style wheels and the hubcaps with the corporate name on them. But...closest I could come was a 1936 Pontiac with a European custom body but still some details do not work. Any thoughtsd??
