Vehicle identity requests
Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Max, hi shamirnewell,
in any case it is a Krupp. Have a look on the upper part of the radiator. There You can read the name of the firm: Krupp. I think it is the type L 3,5 M 162 or L 3,5 M 142.
Regards
Bert

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Thank you, Bert. Yes, now I see it's clearly a Krupp. I don't have useful pics of either of those Types but except for the front wings (and that mystery cab) it looks nearly identical to the L 3,6 M 142 on Holger's site:
Maybe it's just the shadow that makes the wings look different but they look more squared off in my photo.
(I just noticed the text on the site calls it a 3,6 M but the photo caption says 3,5 M). I'll file it as an L 3,5 M.Maybe it's just the shadow that makes the wings look different but they look more squared off in my photo.
Cheers,
Max

Markus, My Hero!!!!!!!
I got stuck in Czechoslovakia and thought it was a Praga Piccolo variant and have been looking at those for an hour or two.
I believe you have the correct answer and here are two further photos of the Berliet VIL model, 1929 and 1930 which is the proper car I believe.

Markus and Bill,
Respect!
Well done, I too was looking at the Czech option, did not even think of French.
Many thanks to you both,
Kerry.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Thanks Bill - I sorta thought Chevy was closer to the answer. I barely know trucks - and I appreciate your vast knowledge.
I would venture to say this vehicle and the one behind it where captured in France. They are in service as part of a munitions column in Russia. The pic came out of an album containing photos of 20th Panzer Division vehicles.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Rich:
As a bit more background, 2,000 of these GMC trucks were ordered in late 1939. If my reading of my French source materiel is correct,
760 of them were delivered to the French Government before the fall of France and the rest were diverted to the UK. So called "Ex French Contract Vehicles".
From my sources, there were 8 specific truck models from 5 manufacturers in the US purchased by the French Government.
A goodly part of them were not able to be delivered to France before the capitulation and were diverted to the UK.
I would be happy to list them for you if you wish.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Please can somebody help with the identification of the car and truck before L'Arc de Triomphe?
Thank you,
Kerry.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Sorry, I have got my mind a little more focussed, the car, perhaps 1939 Plymouth?
