thank You very much for Your replay. I must excuse me again. I accepted informations uncritically.
"Both types were externally identical."- an information from Henry Hoppe. But that isn´t true. There are differences and different types. So I was looking for the different types in the book "Deutsche Autos" by Werner Oswald. There was the model 4/20 PS, type 63. That is the predecessor of the model 4/23 PS, type 11. On Holger´s site You can see it on pic 1.
From 1934 the model 4/23 PS got the name "Garant" and was produced in three different types: type 11/4 (1934 - 1935), type 11/35 (1935 - 1936) and type 11/36 (1936 - 1938). But I cannot tell You the exact distinctions. In any case on Your pic is the model 4/23 PS, or other name "Garant", either type 11/35 or 11/36. And I think on Holger´s site on the second pic is the type 11/36. So the list of Kübelwagen of Hanomag is not complete in the book "Kraftfahrzeuge und Panzer" by Werner Oswald.
I hope You can follow my explanations.

Now to the other cars: it could be one of the first Adler Kübelwagen, maybe on th chassis of the type "Favorite".
The other car is a Mercedes-Benz type 170 V, a car produced for the police 1937/38 (source of the information and the pic: "Mercedes PKW und LKW 1935 - 1945" by Dr. Hans-Georg Mayer-Stein).
Thank you very much for your help. I appreciate your time and effort answering to my questions

Hi Kerry, hi Clife,

the small truck in the lead on Your pic, Kerry, is not a British Standard, but an Austrian Steyr type 740. Please have a look on Holgers site.

Regards

Bert

Clive and Bert,
Thank you both for your efforts. Like you Clive, I was looking down the British/French types. I would never have looked at Austrian, or, at least, it would have taken me a very long time. Great detective work Bert, and another type successfully identified, thanks to you.
My best regards to you both,
Kerry.

I will probably get some disagreement here, but I am going to call this one a 1939 Mercury from the US.

The Id points I am basing this on are the following.

1. General design of the motor hood and grille with it's horizontal louvers and the ends of the chromium "sweep spears" that go along the side of the motor hood.

2. The design of the bumper in front.

3. The general appearance of the windows and doors as well as the chromium trim below the doors.

4. Hard to see, but the placing of the upper hinge on the rear door.

The problem area is the headlamps, which were built into the front mudguards on Ford/Mercury/Lincoln models from the 1937 yer model and this one obviously has lamps mounted away from the mudguards. I have, however, seen this modification on other Ford and Mercury cars of the years up through 1940 as well as certain Peugeot models that had the headlamps mounted behind the grille. It was much easier to install "blackout lamps" using regular headlamps instead of trying to convert the ones mounted inside the mudguards.

Below is a photo of a standard 1939 Mercury for comparison purposes.

Please can someone help me with these photos? The black car is clearly a Mercedes, but I do not know the model. The light-coloured car is completely unrecognised by me. The high ground-clearance and chunky tyres suggest a 4x4 and the tow-hooks have a military look.
Many thanks,
Kerry.

Sturm, the SdKfz 11 can't be fully enclosed, it still has the hoops for the tarp stowed just behind the driver. That said I don't know which version it is, except that it isn't a decontamination vehicle, they were completely open at the rear with just a simple frame on the sides to keep the 50 gallon oil drums in place.

This photo of a Heer truck with Prussian tags was supposedly taken at the Polish/Slovakian Border. ID please? (Note the "backwards" hakenkreuz scrawled on the structure).
Cheers,
Max
