Many thanks to all for information about these vehicles! I appreciate your help on this!

Just for fun post this photo, one of the most smallest car utilized by Wehrmacht I have ever seen

Can anyone tell me which StuG this is? I do think it's the Mk. III chasis based on the number of bogeys, but this isn't my field.

That is a StuG III Ausf G. I think that it is an early production model as there doesn't appear to be the added armoured deflector in front of the commander's cupola and it still has the smoke discharger tubes beside the driver's visor.

Thanks. I got the "III" by counting bogeys. But I don't know that much on the details.

Hi Kerry,

My amateurish first impression is a van on Peugeot 201 chassis.

Hi Markus,
Far from amateurish, I think you have hit the nail on the head, it all looks right. Many thanks for the quick work, I was looking in totally the wrong direction for months!

What about this Sharknose, I cannot remember if it has been discussed before. Are the headlights an aftermarket modification, or is this a different model to the more often seen type, with inset "Art Deco" lights?

Hi Kerry:

This was the best I could do. Below is a photo of a 1939 model (I believe yours is a 1938 as it has the running boards visible) showing the fenders as they appear before the square/styled headlamp covers were mounted over what I guess was a normal headlamp. I gather in your photo, the new German owners decided it was much easier to remove the covers particularly if the headlamps were to require blackout modifications.

I have also posted a link to the Dutch owner's site where he describes restoring this car.

Hi Max,

in the booklet Truck Profile "Fordlastwagen in Deutschland" by Wolfgang Westerwelle I found the designation G 398 TS. Also this text:
"Die abgespeckte Version ... weist unter anderem kleinere Scheinwerfer und eine einfache Stoßstange auf. Es fehlen die Begrenzungsleuchten und Trittbretter."

Regards

Bert

Thank you Bert,
So it is a 398 then. I didn't know the difference. I thought both 388 and 398 had the smaller headlights after 1943 but I didn't know about the marker lights or running boards. But doesn't that look like a running board behind the Text? :?
Cheers,
Max
