Re: Vehicle identity requests
Thanks for the information and the additional photo, Ilfil, much appreciated.
I thought it had something to do with coal but it does not have a holzgas motor so I was a bit confused.
All clear now.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi again, Rich.
As I said, I'm an ignorant in this field. However, the knowledge in Russian was of help and a bit of research returned some results. It seems this is the very first model of mine detector used in the Red army, known as IMVETA-2, model 1938.
Hi again, Bill.
I'm glad I was of help Furthermore your question was much easier to me and to answer it I wasn't forced to search anywhere
Cheers!
Edit: Rich, I've just found a walkaround of this device for you, enjoy:

Model 1939, sorry.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Returning to an older one of Kerry's. This one from 06 October.
I have finally found a vehicle with similar front fenders/mudguards to the bus vehicle in the center.
Not a positive ID, but I am back on the trail again looking for a definitive answer.
The below photo of a 1938 Chevrolet bus is said to have been taken in the Netherlands in 1940, so I assume it is a coach built bus from that country.
I am now going through my Dutch files and bookmarks to see if I can ID at least the coach builder. I still believe it is a US Marque.
I am also reposting Kerry's photo for easier reference.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
1. Back to Bert's truck on page 477. It could also be a Berliet. The cab design is very common with this make or even Bernard.
2. Kerry's truck collection on page 478. The middle truck is probably not a Dennis (below are samples of their model range). I have seen it before but the name escapes me. 3. I cannot remember the page but I think this is a Belgian Minerva TCC. https://web.archive.org/web/20100227232 ... inerva.htm

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Bill,
very interesting: the pic with the Chevrolet bus. I was also searching and I could find two busses with also similar front fenders or rather mudguards: a Brossel and a Willems. So my question: could the Chevrolet bus have been taken in Belgium in 1940? Could it be a coach builder from Belgium?
It would be great when You are also going through Your Belgian files and bookmarks. Maybe You will succeed in ID the coach builder. Here the two pics from Holger´s site (http://www.kfzderwehrmacht.de).
Best regards
Bert

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hello Gents.
Surely no identification needed but I like to hear your comments on this one :
The whole photo and its back:
Doesn't look fake, to me at least. Or it is very skillful PhotoShop? I wasn't able to find traces of work in the truck rear area on magnified picture.
Some Brückenkolonne, perhaps, if judging from the trailers.
Your comments are welcome.
Cheers!

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Most interesting,
Maybe the 2nd prototype DAF Trado Blitz Maultier was converted to a normal Trado
The swing axle position, load bed level and uprights appear to match and there are 4x4 Blitz hubs on the rear axles so if photoshopped an excellent job.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Ilfil, it has been said over on Missing Lynx that it is the rear bogies from a DAF Trado, apparently the Dutch firm made some six wheeled Blitz and Ford 3000 conversions during the war.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Thanks guys.
Markus was first and I think he's right to no less than 90%
Alan, I've seen the thread there in ML and more: I have to admit the picture came exactly from there. But with the comments in that place one must be extremely careful, with those on the softskins in particular...
I agree the DAF-Trado is by far the easiest conversion and most probably it is so. But I still consider the option of field mod on some British WD type bogie. The rear of the truck is rised high enough to suggest such approach also.
However, for now I'll park this one in DAF garage
Thanks anyway.
Cheers!

Re: Vehicle identity requests
HI Kerry/Bert:
Bert, good detective work. I now think that my Chevrolet and Kerry's photo both show a Belgian bodied vehicle.
I still have not found the coach builder or the marque yet. My one good source on Belgian vehicles and coach builders went off line a year or so ago because it got hacked so many times. I have found some bits and pieces of it that people saved on the internet and I will go through those to see what more I can find.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Luftflotte2:
Here is one of several, you may be able to make sense of it better than I. I believe only portions have been saved.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Alexander:
Actually, I believe your truck is a MAN ML 4500A as seen below.
The letters "MAN" are missing.
