Dear everyone,
Please ID the trucks of a German artillery unit (Abt. 51), Balkans, 1943/44. The steering wheel is on the right side (or from our point of view, on the left), as in British vehicles.
A close-up of the front (with the Abt. 51 insignia).

Thanks in advance,
Ivan

Hi Hermastodonte!
A warm welcome to the forum! And what an excellent start of the participation! Thank You very much for the help to ID this Berliet truck. In my files I could find a pic of this truck I think, but with another flatbed. Maybe with the two pics You can ID the exact type. That would be great. Nonetheless Your help was great and I want to express my thanks to You.
Best regards
Bert

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Definitely Fiat 626s, the second one is ambulance, or with ambulance body by Borsani at least. BTW, this is the first ambulance towing gun I've ever seen! So most probably it was used for office, caravan or workshop.Ivan Ž. wrote:Dear everyone,

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Well done, thanks very much! I did previously search for various WWII trucks for quite a bit, but I failed to find the right one!

Re: Vehicle identity requests
To me this looks like a Henschel Type 33 Pionierkraftwagen I but the bed looks unusually long. Maybe it's just the camera angle. What's your opinion?

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Max,
I think you have no reasons to worry, it looks quite normal Henschel 33, to me at least.
So fas so good but have anybody here any idea what this dinosaur with Notek in the background is?
Looks somewhat French or Belgian to me.
And the whole picture:

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Thank you very much for the welcome Bert, and for the second picture that was unknown to me !! Despite my best efforts, the exact type for this Berliet light truck remains elusive. His overall look would place it between the Berliet VSA (1930-33) and the Berliet VSE or VSF (1936-40). So probably 1934-35 for the year of production, that's the best I can come up with !SIS 5 wrote:Hi Hermastodonte!

And there's another one that is bothering me for some time (from my collection) : This ambulance with a british Mann Egerton body. But It doesn't seem to be Austin, Bedford or Morris Commercial !!

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Is it perhaps a Fordson ? Just a guess on my part but I believe they did use the Fordson with that body.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Alan,
I think this is a filed mod and a strange compilation of features at the front.
You're right, some of those Mann Egerton ambulance bodies were fitted also to Fordsons, but they are 7V model, like these used by the Finns:

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Thanks Alan and Ilfil!
In the end, I would also go for a field modification on a damaged ambulance, using some available spare parts. The front kind of remind me of a Laffly tractor, so maybe? And if you look closely, the camo paint job is different between the driver cab and the ambulance box.
Anyway that is frontline ingenuity right there!!

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi,
here three pics of a half track I don´t know. It could be a Mercedes-Benz. Maybe one of You know the exact designation of this vehicle. Thanks in advance (source of the pic: "Ground Power" No. 017 10/1995).
