Re: Vehicle identity requests
Looks a really sports car
and another question
Who requisitioned these cars in the german army ? where there rules?
and wen requisitioned how are they given at the officers or soldiers ? can we say for priority ?
i think everyone would rather be riding in such a car than in a "bread and butter " car ? No? or was the first one who arrives makde his choice ?

Re: Vehicle identity requests
You got me on that one, Bill. I jumped the gun and pulled one of my file photos but was having second thoughts after considering the lack of a door cut out on Dirk's pic.
Cheers,
Max

I ll think it is a MB 540 but special one ?

and he has the Notek driving lamp still attached
Re: Vehicle identity requests
Yep, it is very popular photo of undoubtedly VERY special one
Hermann Göring was the owner of this Mercedes 540K Special Roadster with armoured body and bullet-proof glass, nicknamed "The Blue Goose".
Captured on 4 May 1945 in Berchtesgaden by 326th Engineers Battalion, 101st Airborne.
Behind the steering wheel is Sgt. Owen Henderson, on the right is Lt. James Cox.

Cheers!

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Dirk:
Regarding your Voll Horch, below two photos of wartime use. I assume this is the same car.
One taken in Austria in 1945 and the other I assume in Paris sometime a bit later and used by FM Lattre de Tassigny.
