I am not completely sure, Sturm, but to me it looks more like an L1500/L2000.

Can someone help me with this Ford Special? I have it as a V8-G81A or maybe it' a G78A as the last 2 pics are captioned. In either case I can't figure out the year model with 3 horizontal grill bars.

Hi Max,
Reinhardt Frank says this is 1938-39 German V8 model:

But here the problem is that "yours" on the first picture is not with 3 but with 2 horizontal bars on the radiator grille  Maybe Ambi-Budd "facelift?"

ilfil wrote:The wheels may vary, both Trilex and disk types were used on Renaults. The wheelbase also can't be used as a reference point here, I think. The chassis could be even a high frame bus chassis. However, IMHO it isn't Renault for sure. Note their similar cabs (on AGK and AGR models for example) have second side window behind the door window. On the suspect it isn't there.

A little update. I found a better view of a 1938 Renault 8 ton (AGOD) and the chassis simply is not long enough. So the vehicle remains a mystery. Maybe a monstrous Latil prototype? 8O They made a couple COE models.

Not much free time this week, but from what I was able to check till now closest is 1936 Bernard DK6.53 11-tonner COE, but with its 5300 mm wheelbase of the basic chassis it is still too short.
Regretfully due to the same lack of time I wasn't able to find picture of GS truck but have here a van on this chassis, just to illustrate what I mean:

Thank you ilfil,
A '38-39 V8-G81A or V8-G92A was my initial thought but for the radiator grille detail:

I don't think we disagree about the number of bars, it's just that I count the lowest one that passes through the crank hole. If it is indeed a "facelift" I'd say it was hardly worth the effort, not unlike some Hollywood celebrities I could name.

Hi Max,
Undoubtedly on "yours" the radiator bars are one less.
IMHO such facelift, if any and if factory, could be logical for certain reasons, for example to spare metal, or for visual indentificaton of different engine models fitted, etc.
It could be also done by the ex-private owner for his car individualisation, who knows...

Hi ilfil,
Whatever the reason, that's the only one I've seen like that. Not that my knowledge of old Fords is that extensive, but I've seen a few in my day.
Cheers,
Max

Bill Murray wrote:Your car is a Fiat 508C/1100 of about 1938-1939.

I am assuming it is an Italian Fiat as I have found no photos of this body variant done by NSU-Fiat nor Austro-Fiat who also made this car.

I cannot tell from the photo if it is the civilian version "Coloniale" or the military version "Militare".

Photos of both are below.

Bill
I actually own 2 of these vehicles. One civilian 508C and one military 508CM... built only a few days apart in 1939 and shipped to No. Africa. From what Ive been able to to tell there are less than 5 remaining.... as Fiat moved to the newer body.

Thanks, uncle!
Now it is clear that it is a sort of construction dumper but the make still remains mystery :(

Now much easier question, the vehicle is clear, it is Renault AGC but is its number plate Hungarian or Rumanian, or else?

Image

I ask stupid questions because the original caption says "Verladung eines Wehrmachts-Lkw an der Laderampe eines unbekannten Bahnhofs in der Ukraine. (1942)" but it apparently isn't " Wehrmachts-Lkw".
